ABOUT THE ARTIST
Candace was born and raised on the East Coast. She began her love of jewelry at an early age helping family friends in the antique jewelry and manufacturing business. After completing her college degree she attended the accredited Gemological Institute of America. This school taught her the fundamentals of gemstones and diamonds and also immersed her in many facets of the jewelry industry. Years passed and a moment of inspiration walking down a NYC block she decided to follow a new path in design. A self taught jeweler Smashing Jewels by Candace Marsella became a reality in 2004. The inspiration for Smashing Jewels emanates from a passion where science and design intersect. Combining a traditional Graduate Gemological education with an auction and estate jewelry background she tailored her line of jewelry to capture the best of both worlds. Each piece is designed with the finest quality gemstones and freshwater pearls hand worked and fabricated using wire wrapping techniques and bench work skills in sterling silver and 14K gold materials. Her aesthetic highlights the natural beauty of a stone while creating a timeless wearable design.
